Fire Rescue Departments Acquire Ballistic PPE

On July 24th, 2021 Local 2294 representative, Chris Boles, spoke with the media regarding supporting the grant Hillsborough County Fire Rescue applied for that procured ballistic vests and helmets to ensure that all agencies in the region potentially responding to an active shooter/hostile event response (ASHER) threat would have access to the same protection. Local 2294 has supported the efforts to better protect the members of Hillsborough County Fire Rescue by proactively soliciting Fire Rescue administration on this endeavor.

Each ballistic vest kit includes an adjustable vest, two armored steel plates that fit into the vest, and a protective Kevlar helmet. Hillsborough County Fire Rescue is providing training for each department on the proper use of the kits.
